Greetings and welcome to our website. My name is Jay Burgardt and along with my wife own and operate Midwest Organics, which is a worm farm that produces a fantastic fertilizer for your vegetable or flower gardens, potted plants, trees, shrubs, lawns, sod, etc. I also row crop farm corn and soybeans with four other family members here in Iowa, so I have appreciation for the many benefits of this natural fertilizer that the earthworm produces.

We started production in 2000 and now market PURECAST in 5 lb. to 40 lb. retail bags up to 1 ton bulk bags. PURECAST is 99% pure worm castings which should not be confused with vermicompost which is a mixture of worm castings and compost material. The concept of Midwest Organics was born while I was jogging down our rural gravel road early one Sunday morning after a rainstorm a few hours earlier. The ground was littered with thousands of worms. I picked up a bunch and began to learn more about this significant but lowly creature. I will market bait worms in the future but now take great satisfaction in knowing that I can supply a fertilizer product that is chemical free, natural, environmentally friendly, and can be used in all applications of plant growth.
